Weta Digital 3D modeller Niels Peter Kaagaard has released NPK_UV_Layout 1.0, a new Maya add-on that helps to optimise UV layouts based on the size of the parent objects in world space.

The Python script unifies UV scale across multiple objects, automatically identifying similar objects based on topology and laying out their UVs next to each other. User can specify UDIM tile spacing and shell spacing.

In the video, you can see it in action on a scene consisting of 1,000 objects totalling around 20,000 polys.

Pricing and availability
NPK_UV_Layout 1.0 is available for Maya 2017+ on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. It costs $20.
