Chaos Group has launched V-Ray Cloud, its new push-button cloud rendering service for V-Ray, in open beta. Any who wants to trial the service will be able to use it for free during the beta period.

V-Ray Cloud will be on show at the Siggraph 2018 conference this week.

Launch cloud renders from inside V-Ray by adjusting a few simple render settings
First rolled out in closed beta earlier this year, V-Ray Cloud makes it possible to launch cloud renders from inside V-Ray as a near-single-click process.

Features include a ‘Smart Sync’ system, which automatically resubmits only the updates made to a scene, reducing upload times. Once uploaded, project data is stored in the cloud, removing the need to re-upload.

After a job has been submitted, users can check on the render, or change job settings, via a smartphone.

V-Ray Cloud is based on V-Ray Standalone, so it should work with any edition of V-Ray that supports the .vrscene format, like 3ds Max and Maya, though you can’t use plugins that don’t run in standalone mode.

The service is based on Google Cloud Platform.

Pricing and availability
V-Ray Cloud is currently available in open beta. The service will be free for a “limited time” during the beta period. Chaos Group hasn’t announced a date or pricing for the commercial release yet.
