Greetings: โHi guys, Iโm Asif Ali, and youโre watching CGHOW. Today, weโre going to create an attack effect in Unreal Engine 5โs Niagara from scratch. Itโs going to be a long video, around one hour, so if you havenโt subscribed yet, please do so. If you like the video, donโt forget to like, share, and comment!โ

Step-by-Step Process:
1. Set Up Folders and Import Assets
Create an Attack Effect folder and a subfolder for organization.
Download animation from Mixamo (jumping attack) and import it into UE5.
Set up material for the character since only the texture was imported.
2. Setting Up the Scene
Create a new level and name it โAttack Effects.โ
Add a Level Sequencer for animation control.
Import the animation into the sequencer and adjust its starting position using keyframes.
Set the characterโs movement to ensure it jumps correctly.
3. Add Ground Hit Effect (Crack)
Use a simple material for the crack effect with a texture and alpha transparency.
Create a Niagara particle system for the crack effect and set particle life, size, and fade over time.
Align particles to the mesh using custom alignments.
4. Add Debris Effect
Create debris that will spawn on the ground.
Set up a mesh material that dissolves over time using parameters like noise style, dissolve rate, and contrast.
Use different random settings for size, life, and position to make each debris unique.
5. Add Flash and Lighting Effects
Create a flash effect that appears on impact with a bright, random light.
Use a light emitter with adjusted intensity and size to simulate a burst of energy.
Create a cylindrical mesh for ray effects and adjust the scale, color, and life.
6. Add Ray Effects
Create rays using a static mesh with a material that applies texture and scaling over time.
Adjust the rayโs brightness, size, and life for variation and realism.
7. Collision and Debris Physics
Set up collision using analytical planes to ensure that particles interact properly with the ground.
Fine-tune collision settings, restitution, and velocity for a more realistic interaction.
8. Camera Shake
Add a camera shake to simulate the impact and enhance the overall effect.
Adjust the strength and parameters to get the desired result.
9. Final Adjustments
Adjust particle sizes, timing, and colors for better visual cohesion.
Test the entire effect to ensure smooth transitions between all stages, such as when the debris dissolves and when the flash appears.
Conclusion:
Wrap-up: โThatโs how you can create a complete attack effect using Unreal Engine 5โs Niagara system. You can add more elements, like smoke or sparks, depending on the style youโre aiming for.โ
