Video Title: Chocolate Liquid Effect with Niagara & Flip Solver in UE5 | Viscosity & Collider Tutorial

Description:
Hi guys, I’m Asif Ali and you’re watching CGHOW! In this video, I will show you how to create a simple chocolate liquid simulation in Unreal Engine 5 using Niagara and the Flip Solver. This effect simulates the smooth, viscous flow of chocolate, and I’ll also show you how to tweak the material and add a collider for realistic interaction. If you haven’t subscribed yet, please subscribe to my channel! Don’t forget to like, share, and comment if you found this tutorial useful. Let’s get started!

Steps to Create the Chocolate Effect:

  1. Creating the Niagara System:
    • Start by creating a new map and folder for the project files.
    • Turn on the Cloud Plugin and restart the engine.
    • Right-click in the content browser, create a Niagara System from the template, and choose Grid 3D Flip Solver. Drag it into the viewport to preview the effect.
  2. Adjusting Water Effect:
    • First, set the water height to 0 in the User Parameter to prevent the container from filling.
    • Open the sides of the container to allow water to flow out.
    • Delete the second emitter (white particles) and work only with the water emitter.
  3. Animating the Emitter:
    • In the User Parameter, enable the Bounding Box and increase the size along the X-axis to widen the flow.
    • Adjust the spawn location with Sphere Location (e.g., 20) and set the velocity to 0 for a falling effect.
    • Animate the X, Y, and Z values to create movement. Add a sine wave effect for a more wavy appearance (e.g., 200 on X and 50 on Y).
  4. Adding Drag for Viscosity:
    • In the Particle Update, add Drag with a value of around 20 to simulate the viscosity of chocolate.
  5. Creating the Chocolate Material:
    • Change the material to a chocolate-colored texture by duplicating the default material and modifying its base color and opacity.
    • You can also saturate the color for a richer look.
  6. Adding Collider for Interaction:
    • To make the chocolate interact with other objects, add a collider shape (e.g., a sphere) to your scene.
    • Use the Collider Tag and copy it to the emitter to allow the chocolate particles to collide with the sphere.
  7. Adjusting Particle Lifetime and Smoothness:
    • To make the particles last longer, decrease the kill value (e.g., set to -1). This will make the particles stay in the scene longer.
    • Increase the spawn rate to make the flow smoother and denser (e.g., 50,000).
    • Adjust the smooth radius to make the simulation smoother, which helps create more realistic fluid behavior.
  8. Final Adjustments and Preview:
    • Set the simulation’s smooth radius to 2 for a smoother effect.
    • If needed, tweak the life span, spawn rate, and other settings to refine the simulation.
