Video Intro: “Hi guys, I’m Ashif Ali, and you’re watching CGHOW! Today, I’ll be showing you how to create a stunning VFX effect in Unreal Engine 5.1 from scratch. If you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel yet, make sure to do so! If you enjoy this video, don’t forget to like, share, and comment below. Let’s get started with the tutorial!”
Detailed Tutorial Script:
Introduction & Setup
“First off, subscribe to my YouTube channel and click on the bell icon so you never miss a new video notification.”
“Let’s jump right into creating the effect! We’ll begin by creating the ring material.”
Creating the Ring Effect
“Start by adding a radial node and another radius node. Subtract one from the other to create the ring shape. For now, we’ll call the first radius ‘R1’ and the second one ‘R2’. Similarly, we’ll name the densities ‘D1’ and ‘D2’.”
“Set the values: R1 to 0.5, R2 to 0.2, and densities to 1 for both. If you increase the density, the ring sharpens.”
“Next, add a noise effect or use the aura node for added texture. I’ll connect a burn node to refine the appearance.”
“You can adjust the size of the ring by modifying the values. Let’s increase the density slightly to sharpen the edges.”
Adding Rotation and Variation
“Now, let’s rotate the ring. I’ll set the rotation speed to 0.1, then copy and paste this setup, adjusting the second rotation speed to 0.2 for variation.”
“To add more complexity, let’s use a power node to fine-tune the look, applying saturation for smooth control.”
Refining the Texture
“For the texture issue, we’ll add a smooth step node to blend and refine the edges.”
“Now, I’ll multiply the texture with opacity to control visibility and connect this to the particle color. I’ll also make it unlit for the desired effect.”
Creating the Niagara Effect
“Switching over to Niagara, let’s create the effect. Use the ring material and set the spawn burst to a single particle that will last forever. Adjust the size and alignment to get the desired look.”
“For alignment, we’ll use custom vector and set it to face the Z-axis.”
“Next, I’ll fine-tune the dynamic parameters for radius and density.”
Tweaking Appearance and Behavior
“We’ll adjust the colors and opacity of the ring. Increase the alpha and adjust the size for the final look.”
“Next, we’ll create a sphere around the ring with a transparent material to give a glowing effect.”
Adding Central Elements
“Let’s add something in the center. I’ll duplicate the ring and reduce the radius to create a smaller ring in the middle.”
“Now, let’s adjust the material to make it blue and less opaque for a faded effect.”
Stars and Glow
“We’ll create another material for the stars inside the ring. Using a radial texture and bump offset, we can add some dot patterns.”
“To enhance the glow effect, I’ll use a power node and increase the emissive strength.”
Finishing Touches
“To wrap up, I’ll add a material with a soft gradient and opacity fade to give it a smooth appearance.”
“You can increase the glow by tweaking dynamic parameters for better visual impact.”
Final Thoughts
“Here is the final result with a glowing, dynamic ring and star effects. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below!”
Conclusion: “Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Keep learning, and I’ll see you in the next video. Don’t forget to subscribe for more Unreal Engine tutorials. Bye!”
