Hi guys, I’m Asif Ali and you’re watching CGHOW! In today’s video, I’ve created this stunning animated eye effect entirely using materials. The cool part is, I only used Niagara to animate multiple particles moving randomly with different colors. In this tutorial, we’ll break down how I built this effect and how you can recreate it yourself.

Body:

Step 1: Material Setup

• The base of this eye effect is built in the material editor. We start by creating a radial exponent to get a circular shape for the eye. We adjust the density to control the softness and smoothness of the edge.
• Next, I created a purple layer that fits over the base to give the eye its signature color. I use a random color for a more dynamic effect, and I also show you how to adjust these values to your liking.

Step 2: Adding Layers for Detail

• To achieve the layered look, we add a few more elements like a diagonal gradient for highlights and details. A custom rotator is used to create the diagonal effect, which gives the eye depth and realism.
• Then we add a white core using a radial node, tweaking the density and size to get that central light.

Step 3: Adding Shine and Glow

• To make the eye shine, I added some gradient effects and distorted them to create subtle movement. You’ll see how I adjust the width and opacity of the shine to give it a faded look.
• I also used a radial texture for the surrounding aura effect, which adds a nice glow around the eye.

Step 4: Finalizing the Material

• Once the basic layers are in place, I tweaked the colors and added dynamic effects like panning textures to give the entire material life.
• Now we have a fully animated, glowing eye! You can modify values and colors to suit your specific needs.

Step 5: Integrating the Effect with Niagara

• Moving over to Niagara, I spawn around 200 particles with infinite life, which are randomly positioned in space. I use curl noise to move the particles around, but I also use a spring to keep them from drifting too far, making sure they stay close to their original position.
• The material parameters, such as hue and panning speed, are randomized within Niagara to add variety to the particles’ look.
