Video Title: Flower Effect Tutorial in Unreal Engine Niagara | CGHOW
Introduction:
Hi guys, I’m Ashif Ali and you’re watching CGHOW. In today’s video, I’ll be showing you how I created a beautiful flower effect that spawns each time this character takes a step. I’ll walk you through how I made it from scratch so you can fully understand the process.

Tutorial Breakdown:
Setting Up the Scene:
Start by loading an empty map and adding the block animation (catwalk) and the mannequin character from UE5.
Drag the animation into the viewport, adjusting it so that it loops as the character moves back to the starting position.
Creating the Flower Mesh:
For the flower mesh, I use Maya. I begin by creating a clean-up mesh and adjusting the curvature with the band tool to shape the flower petals.
The pivot point is set and rotated to position the mesh appropriately.
Material Setup:
In Unreal Engine, create a flower material using texture coordinates, masks, and sinusoidal patterns to create a thickness gradient for the flower petal.
Apply dynamic parameters to control color variation for the front and back of the petal.
Particle System Setup:
I then create a Niagara particle system for the flower using the mesh and material created earlier.
Adjust particle settings like size, rotation, and color to make the effect dynamic and realistic.
Adding Multiple Flowers:
Set up multiple Niagara emitters to spawn flowers at different positions around the character’s steps.
Customize particle settings for each emitter, adding variation in size, color, and animation speed.
Final Adjustments and Effects:
Add an additional emitter for ground glow effects to give the scene a magical, glowing ambiance.
Customize the look of the particles by adjusting settings such as size, color, and emissive material.
Fine-Tuning the Animation:
The flowers are set to spawn once per step, with keyframed adjustments to particle size and color intensity based on the character’s movement.
Enhancing the Look:
I add magic dust particles that twinkle as the flowers bloom, giving the effect a more whimsical feel.
Adjust particle lifespan, size, and color to finalize the look.
Conclusion:
And that’s how I created this flower effect from scratch. You can use this method for a variety of effects, such as footstep impacts or magical spells. If you found this tutorial helpful, make sure to like, share, and leave a comment.
