Title: Creating a Cool Effect in UE 5.1: Material, Mesh, and Particle Setup | Unreal Engine Tutorial

Introduction:
Hi guys, I’m Ashif Ali and you’re watching CGHOW. In today’s tutorial, we will create a cool effect in Unreal Engine 5.1. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and click the bell icon to get notifications for all new videos.

Creating the Sphere Material:

  • Start by creating a material for the sphere in the Unreal Engine.
  • Use an “Unlit” material for the sphere and apply the particle color.
  • Set up the Niagara emitter, using the “Sphere” mesh for the effect.

Setting Up the Particle:

  • Delete unnecessary modules and set up a simple particle loop (2 for now).
  • Set the particle life to 1 and apply the sphere material.
  • Adjust the pivot of the mesh to be centered and scale the sphere down.
  • Add a scaling curve to the particle to make it shrink.

Ring Material Setup:

  • Create a “Ring” material using radial gradients.
  • Subtract two radials to make the ring and distort it by adding noise to the texture coordinates.
  • Use a “Texture Coordinate” and “Multiply” to control the amount of distortion.
  • Apply a mask to keep the outer ring intact while distorting the inner part.

Fine-Tuning the Ring Material:

  • Adjust the radius, density, and sharpness of the material.
  • Use a “Vector to Radial” to make the texture polar, and experiment with different textures for the ring.

Integrating Dynamic Parameters:

  • Use dynamic parameters to control the distortion over time.
  • Adjust the texture density to fine-tune the sharpness of the ring effect.
  • Use curves for particle scale and color to match the particle’s life cycle.

Enhancing the Flashing Effect:

  • Add a flashing effect by creating a soft radial light that fades over time.
  • Use random size and velocity to create more variety in the particles.
  • Fine-tune the values for better visual results.

Final Adjustments:

  • Add layers to the effect for depth, adjust brightness, and randomize particle velocities.
  • Ensure the color and size of particles fade out over their lifespan for a smooth effect.

Conclusion:
Thanks for watching! Keep learning and experimenting with Unreal Engine. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell icon for more tutorials. Bye!

Key Points:

  • Sphere material setup using “Unlit” and particle color.
  • Use of noise and radial gradients to create a ring material.
  • Applying dynamic parameters and texture distortion.
  • Flashing particle effects for added impact.
