Mannequin Motion Poster Tutorial in UE4 sequencer Niagara | Download Files
For this effect, I used a ue4 sequencer and Niagara. I used custom animation from MIXAMO then used that in sequencer I created different VFX layers in Niagara like debris tunnels, ambient particles, lightning, and speed lines and I also used post-process to me it looks better.

“Hi guys, I’m Asif Ali and you’re watching CGHOW. In today’s video, I’m going to show you how I created this effect that I made yesterday. I’ll walk you through all my elements and explain how you can recreate this effect in Unreal Engine 4 using Sequencer and Niagara. Let’s get started!”

Step 1: Preparing the Character Animation
- “The resolution for this project is mobile-friendly: 1080×1920, with the height as 1920 and width as 1080. Now, let me show you how I got this animation for the character, using the mannequin in Unreal Engine.”
- “Go to the Mixamo website, log in or sign up, and upload your static mesh from Unreal Engine.”
- “Once the mannequin is uploaded, you can rig it, apply animations, and then download the animated character for Unreal Engine.”
Step 2: Importing and Adjusting the Animation
- “After downloading, bring the animation into Unreal Engine. You’ll notice the animation plays fast, so I slowed it down for better control.”
- “To adjust the animation speed and looping, right-click on the animation, create a composite, and tweak the speed and loop settings.”
- “For a reversed or looped effect, apply the settings: start time, end time, and adjust the animation speed to achieve the desired effect.”
Step 3: Creating the Sequencer Setup
- “Now, let’s move to the Sequencer. This is where the magic happens. Here’s how my sequence looks, and I’ll walk you through the elements.”
- “I have an exponential fog, adjusted for density and color, which gives a moody atmosphere.”
- “Next, I applied a blue edge to the character material by adding emissive blend and tweaking the power to get the glow effect around the character.”
Step 4: Adding Lights and Post Effects
- “The scene lighting includes a directional light with strength around 32 and a point light behind the character for intensity.”
- “I also used post-processing to enhance the visuals by adjusting contrast and gamma for a cleaner look.”
Step 5: Particle Systems and Ambient Effects
- “For the ambient effect, I used two particle systems: one with smoke and another with radial emissions.”
- “The smoke system uses Sub-UV animation, while the radial particles spawn from a sphere with noise for random movement.”
Step 6: Creating the Tunnel of Debris
- “This tunnel of debris was made by combining multiple static meshes and applying randomization to create the variety of rocks.”
- “In the Niagara system, I used mesh renderers, random mesh indexing, and curl noise to animate the debris, creating a dynamic scene.”
Step 7: Creating the Eyes and Hand Glow
- “For the glowing eyes and hands, I connected particle emitters to the character’s bones (head and hands) so they follow the animation.”
- “The eyes use a simple torus location and randomization, and the hand glow is done with a similar setup, using velocity and gravity to spread the particles.”
Step 8: Lightning and Speed Lines
- “I used the same technique from my previous tutorials to create random lightning effects.”
- “For the speed lines, I applied a radial velocity emitter to stretch the particles along the Y-axis, creating dynamic streaks of light.”
Step 9: Final Touches and Full Effect
- “Here’s the full sequence with all elements turned on: fog, animation, lighting, particles, debris, eyes, and hand glow.”
