Hi Guys in this video i will make a stylized flamethrower in unreal engine Niagara, i will use existing fire system to make this effect you can also watch stylized fire tutorial on cghow channel. i will also use blueprint to rotate flamethrower gun and activate character then it burns and dissipates into fire and embers.

Description:
In this tutorial, Asif Ali demonstrates how to create a stylized flamethrower effect in Unreal Engine using Niagara. The tutorial walks through the process of designing fire and ember effects for the flamethrower, including the animation of the flamethrower weapon and the character’s collision with fire. Asif shares how to set up particle emitters, materials, and a blueprint to control the flamethrower’s rotation, fire effects, and character interactions. He also explains how to implement eroding materials and trigger character death animations when the flamethrower touches the character.
Key Notes:
- Flamethrower Fire Effects:
- Flame Particle System: Uses sprite renderer, random life and size, and velocity on the X-axis to simulate flame motion.
- Texture Erosion: The material for the flames features a gradient and noise to create a realistic flame pattern and erosion effect over time.
- Light and Sparks: Adds light to the fire particles and includes spark particles with a short life span and random velocity.
- Material Setup:
- Stylized Fire Texture: A custom-created stylized fire texture in Photoshop, applied to the particles.
- Erosion Control: Material has parameters to control texture erosion over time, using gradient noise and power nodes to simulate the erosion of the fire pattern.
- Opacity Masking: Subtracting a radial gradient from the material to create a round shape for the fire particles.
- Flame Thrower Blueprint:
- Rotation and Animation: The flamethrower blueprint controls the rotation of the flamethrower using a timeline and animates the weapon’s movement.
- Flame Collision with Character: When the flamethrower collides with the character, the fire particles activate, leading to the character eroding and playing a death animation.
- Character Erosion:
- Erosion Material: The character’s material uses the same eroding effect applied to the flamethrower. The character erodes when in contact with fire, controlled by a parameter in the blueprint.
- Animation Trigger: When the flamethrower is positioned over the character, a death animation is played, triggered by the flamethrower’s rotation.

Additional Notes:
- This tutorial gives an in-depth look at creating a dynamic flamethrower effect and the interaction between the flamethrower and the character.
- Erosion is a key theme in the tutorial, showing how to use materials to make objects look like they are eroding over time.
- The blueprint system in Unreal Engine is effectively used to control the flamethrower’s behavior, from rotation to triggering character animations.
