Video Title: Pixelated Fire Effect in Unreal Engine 5.2 | CGHOW Tutorial

Introduction: Hi guys, I’m Ashif Ali and welcome to this video! Today, I’ll be showing you how to create a pixelated fire effect using Unreal Engine 5.2. Let’s dive right in!

Before we begin, don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and hit the bell icon so you never miss a new video!

Tutorial Outline:

  1. Setting Up the Material:
    • Start by creating a new material for the effect.
    • Use the β€œAlpha” for masking and apply a Multiply function to adjust the brightness (0.5).
    • Save and create the material.
  2. Creating the Particle Effect:
    • Import the material and set it up in the particle system (choose one particle emitter).
    • Set it to spawn once and have a constant size.
    • Adjust the background appearance and make any necessary changes to preview settings.
  3. Creating the Pixelated Fire Effect:
    • Add a noise texture and apply radial functions for pixelation.
    • Use a dynamic parameter to control the pixel density.
    • Set up the colors for the fire: start with orange, transitioning to red and black as it fades.
  4. Adding Smoke and Fire Movement:
    • Use a fountain emitter to control the flow and direction of the fire particles.
    • Modify gravity and velocity settings to make the particles rise.
    • Adjust particle size and alignment to match the sword (custom facing vector).
  5. Fine-Tuning the Material and Effect:
    • Create additional β€œsmoke” particles using a flat material.
    • Set the size and spawn rate of the smoke, adjusting color and randomization.
    • Use randomized gravity and velocity to add a dynamic feel to the particles.
  6. Final Adjustments:
    • Align the particles with the sword and adjust the camera settings for better effect visualization.
    • Refine the color curves and particle behavior for more realism.

Conclusion: That’s it! We’ve successfully created a pixelated fire effect for your game assets. I hope you found this tutorial helpful.
