How to Create a Static Yet Dynamic Effect Using Recycled Elements in UE5 | Tutorial
Hi guys, I’m Asif Ali, and you’re watching CGHOW! Today, I’ll show you how I created a static-looking effect with motion, using elements from my previous tutorials. While this effect doesn’t have the impact of a typical particle system, it still looks interesting and dynamic. Let’s dive into how I reused various assets to put this all together.

Before we get started, don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and hit the bell icon to get notified about all new tutorials.
What You’ll Learn in This Tutorial:
- Reusing Elements from Previous Tutorials:
- Using a parallax ball, flower petals, and other assets from previous tutorials to create a new effect.
- Watch my tutorials on flowers, petals, and parallax to understand how I created these elements.
- Creating the Reflection Ball:
- Setting up a sphere mesh with a custom material that adjusts reflection, metallic, and roughness properties.
- Using a dynamic parameter to control the amount of reflection on the ball for a more refined look.
- Adding Volume with Multiple Spheres:
- Learn how to create a volumetric effect by spawning 100 sphere particles with custom scaling.
- Apply an execution index to control the scale of each individual particle for a more varied appearance.
- Creating Leaves and Custom Alignment:
- Using a custom mesh alignment technique to place leaves around a torus, with the ability to adjust spacing and size for different effects.
- Rotating the leaves to face the center of the torus using mesh orientation.
- Building the Rings:
- Basic setup of particles with custom alignment and rotation to create glowing rings.
- Creating a radial texture that blends the edges and applies it to the particles for a soft, glowing effect.
- Using Textures and Materials:
- How to use different textures (like cracked and aura textures) to create unique visual effects.
- Employing texture manipulation with sine and power functions to add a fading effect around the edges of a particle.
- Creating the Petal Effect:
- Using a curved mesh and normal maps to create petals that move in a controlled manner with curl noise and spring force.
- Controlling the movement of petals so they don’t get thrown out of the scene with an infinite life.
Key Steps to Follow:
- Reuse and Customize Elements: Start by using assets from previous tutorials (e.g., parallax balls, flower petals) and customizing them for a new look.
- Reflection Ball: Create a sphere mesh and apply a custom material with dynamic reflection and opacity controls.
- Volume Creation: Spawn multiple particles and scale them individually with execution indices to create a volumetric effect.
- Leaves and Custom Alignment: Place leaves around a torus using custom alignment, and adjust rotation to face the center.
- Rings and Texture Manipulation: Use radial textures with sine and power functions to control the transparency and brightness of the rings.
- Petal Movement Control: Implement curl noise and spring force to make the petals move dynamically but return to their initial position.
