Setting Up the Project:
“Let’s begin by creating a new level and saving it. I’ll call this ‘Dash Li’ and save it in a folder named ‘Dash.’”
“I’ll make the ground a little darker and set the lighting. Next, I’ll search for the ‘Dashing’ map. Now, let’s set up the third-person template. If you don’t have it, go to ‘Windows’ and select ‘World Settings,’ then add the third-person template to your project.”
Adding the Character:
“Now that we have the character, let’s go to the blueprint. I’ll edit the blueprint and add the Niagara particle to the character’s mesh.”
“I’ll adjust the settings so the particles appear on the surface of the character, and adjust their color to red for better visibility.”
Creating the Lightning Effect:
“Next, I’ll adjust the particle size, reduce the life span, and modify the spawn rate.”
“For the lightning particles, I’ll switch to using the Ribbon module instead of the default particles. This allows us to create a more trail-like effect.”
“I’ll tweak the width and life span of the ribbon to make it look more like lightning.”
Setting Up the Dash Behavior:
“To make the dash effect more dynamic, I’ll implement time dilation. When I press the shift key, time will speed up, and when I release it, everything returns to normal speed.”
“I’ll also adjust the camera to create a slight delay when the dash happens, enhancing the visual impact.”
Particle Behavior and Tweaks:
“I’ll adjust the particle motion to make the lightning feel more alive, with some random jitter and a slight curl noise effect.”
“Let’s add some light to the particles for added realism, but we won’t make it too intense.”
“When the character is not dashing, I’ll make sure the particles stop appearing by deactivating the effect when the shift key is released.”
Final Touches:
“I’ll add some extra effects, like additional lightning particles around the character, to make the dash feel more intense.”
“To enhance the effect, I’ll create a material that adds some blocky texture and adjust its appearance to fit the dash.”
